Overview of content

The Grammar:

The content of the conversation grammar is found under "The Grammar." The Grammar consists of two fundamental parts for describing conversation:

1. "The Building Blocks of Talk-in-interaction" contains an index where the forms and structures of conversational language are reviewed, ranging from the smallest units to the largest (from individual sounds to sentences and discourse units).

2. "Social Actions" covers various communicative actions and the forms and structures used to perform them.

The grammar also includes a non-exhaustive, alphabetical list of entries on Interactional phenomena in Danish. These entries provide brief, accessible, research-based descriptions of specific phenomena. The list is continuously expanded as new research on conversation emerges.

Other:

If you would like to share your opinion on our descriptions, have suggestions for improvements or changes, or wish to contribute to the grammar, please find us under "Contact."

Under "Resources," you will find a complete alphabetical list of all sources used throughout the conversation grammar. Links to the relevant sources are provided wherever possible. Specific entries cite the author's surname and the year in parentheses, with full source details available here in the References.

Under "Transcription Conventions," you can find a list of the symbols we use in conversation transcripts.

Unfortunately, the search function is not currently working; therefore, we have created an index of all our entries, which you can find at the bottom of the menu bar.
